Cross-Platform Version (Win, macOS, Unix)
Now that .NET Core is available, I'm wondering if it is feasible to create the next version using .NET Core so it is cross-platform. Is this something you are considering? Is it possible? I use Macs and have to run a VM to install/use the software. I would love to have this work natively in macOS.

Re: Cross-Platform Version (Win, macOS, Unix)
I´ve just briefly read up on it and it certainly sounds promising, although from what I see it was originally geared towards "websites, services, and console apps" and its support for Windows Forms applications like the Orphalese Tarot seems to still be getting off the ground. I can't actually try it and see because my version of Visual Studio is too outdated but it is certainly something I might look at further down the line. Thanks for the suggestion!

Yes, I echo these sentiments! I have used your program for at least 10 years probably longer. I work as a professional psychic and constantly recommend this program. However I have switched almost exclusively to macs (iPad, MacBook Pro, iPhone) and I wish this would work on any of the above without having to use parallels! I would be ecstatic to see this on either Mac or iPad software. As it is my MacBook Pro only has parallels for this one program and parallels is taking up 70gb, so now I’m going to have to upgrade my computer to use this. I have bought almost every app on iPad for tarot and none are as good as this one. What makes such a difference for me is being able to drag cards and add new ones, just like using real cards. Please consider building this for Mac, I would happily buy it!

I know that this post is old, but I was able to get Orphalese to work fully on Linux and macOS (tested on Debian 12 and macOS Sonoma 14.5 on Intel CPU).
For linux I used a flatpak app called Bottles and for Mac I used Porting Kit. Both are free to use.
Linux Instructions:
Mac Instructions:
For linux I used a flatpak app called Bottles and for Mac I used Porting Kit. Both are free to use.
Linux Instructions:
- download bottles (this is a flatpak app and it is containerized, please see further down on how to access your local file system and create a .desktop entry)
- create new bottle
- name the bottle
- create
- click run executable
- choose the .exe set up file
- it should work right out of the box but there is no .desktop entry
- if you want a app/start menu entry you will need another app called flat seal
- open up flat seal
- choose bottles
- go to the file system category
- toggle on all system files and all user files
Mac Instructions:
- open porting kit
- go to all apps
- click on custom port
- put in a name
- click next until you get to the advaced setting
- I chose WS12WinCX64Bit23.7.1-2 as the engine (I'm safely assuming that's the latest version), everything else I left unchanged
- click next until you are prompted to choose an installer .exe
- let the installer do it's thing until it prompts you to choose an .exe for the program (this does take a while, grab yourself a top quality snack and wait for it to finish)
- it should automatically work out of the box

Thanks for sharing your experience. This is something that is asked quite a bit, and I've said that I know people have done it, but don't now how. At least now I'll have something to point to.
