unable to upload decks

Post by thealien2000uk »

I'm using windows 7 64 and latest version of orphalese.
I can download the decks fine but when I try to upload via

"share decks"
"share or update"
"select deck"
"choose which decks to share" the windows ends half way through the comments section and there is no scroll bar

Any help

The short answer is I just uploaded a version which hopefully will fix this problem, it is version 10.1.3.2, the quick link is here: http://www.orphalese.net/downloads/clic ... pgrade.exe.

The longer answer is that this has to do with how Windows programs try to make stuff render correctly on everyone's screens, and it is mostly to do with fonts. For example, you have a window with some controls like buttons and text fields. The programmer designs the program to look a certain way, but some users have a preference for larger fonts established in Windows, which means a button might not have enough room to display all its text unless it can grow. I think what was happening here is that the controls were growing but they were growing so much that they were outside the fixed bounds of the window. I have changed the settings on this and some other windows in the program so that they won't do any automatic adjustment. This might result in some people saying the text is too small to read. I will wait for anymore feedback. If the screen text is too small there is always the option of changing the resolution which I think is what most people do. I will wait for feedback anyway!

I'm sorry but the update did not solve the problem..

My screen resolution is 1366 x 768 at 32 Bit colour and 60 Hz Refresh rate on a Toshiba Laptop if that helps.

I think the answer would be to make the offending windows rescalable or even to include a scroll bar on the right side of the window.

I have been collecting and using Tarot cards and Tarot programs for a very long time (40 years) and although I have come across a couple of very minor problems with Orphalese Tarot, it's still the best available and still has great expandability.

Thanks for a great program.

OK, thanks for letting me know. I don't think those suggestions would help because the program thinks it is showing you everything. The problem is more like a communication breakdown between the program and your graphics card. If there was a scrollbar you would just find that that was off screen too or it would be unhelpful because it would reflect the form as fully scrolled even when parts of it were still invisible to you. There are still some more settings to play with, in fact I just uploaded another new version, 10.1.3.3. Do you think you could give that one a try? The quick download link is the same as in my previous post. Cheers!

no sorry that didn't solve it either

I've tried changing the resolution etc. but that has not helped either

if it helps my laptop is a Toshiba Satellite with a mobile intel (R) 4 series express chipset family graphics card with the resolution in my last post

we shall persevere .... lol

Hmm... Obviously I have tried setting my own screen to the same resolution but that didn't replicate the problem. Just to rule out some kind of caching issue meaning that you didn't get the modified version, could you confirm the version number from the "About" box?

Just to say I haven't forgotten this and I am planning to take another looking at it over the Easter weekend. I am just curious if you have any other windows in the program that look distorted or have elements out of view, I can't quite work out why it would just be that one. Do you think you could post a screenshot of how you see that window?

You should see a couple of tabs under the area where you write your message, the second one is "Attachments". Press "Add Files" and you can browse for the image. Then you should get a button labelled "Place inline". I am uploading one now as a test...
