Richard I need some input....

Post by Marvin »

Hi Richard,

I've been setting up a tarot deck in the new format all day...........

I started at 6:00 am and I'm only now getting to the suit of swords. It's 2:44 pm.

The program is running very slowly, (dealing) and the shifts between screens to edit the LWB are even slower. Is this from running the program on a win 98 machine, my spyware checker and my virus checker both say my system is clean.....

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Marvin

Hi Marvin,

It sounds like after nine hours of continuous use there is some memory leakage. This is a problem with a lot of programs that manipulate graphics. Windows Explorer suffers from this (in fact if you are using Explorer a lot to view images while you edit the decks that could be the problem). If the leakage is caused by this program you should find that closing and re-opening it fixes things. If the problem is more system-wide a reboot might be called for.

Of course, running Windows 98 definitely wouldn't help things. Computer years are a bit like cat years - as an operating system I would say it is now past its retirement age.

Cheers

Hi Marvin,

I spoke too soon...I have now isolated a problem with the tarot program which might have caused the slowing down you described. Please take a look at my post on the subject, and download the latest version (651) - let's see if this fixes it.

Cheers
Richard
